Honey weight, facets & twist-off closure
Why the 280 mL hex jar is more than a decorative shape.
The 280 mL hexagonal jar is a recognized farm-shop and delicatessen format: substantial enough for a core honey SKU, compact enough for gifting, and naturally divided into panels that can carry provenance without covering the amber product.
Capacity converts to a different honey weight
A 280 mL brimful volume holds roughly 390 g of honey at typical density, not 280 g. Moisture content and filling temperature shift the exact relationship, so the commercial net weight should be established by scale and checked against the shoulder line on filled samples.
One face becomes the hero panel
The front plane can carry brand, floral source and net weight without wrapping around a corner. Adjacent faces then hold producer story, serving notes or mandatory copy, leaving at least one clear plane through which customers can compare color and clarity.
Corners create visual rhythm
Light catches the six vertical edges and makes even an undecorated jar read as more crafted than a smooth round container. That detail is especially effective for varietal honey, chutney and preserves sold in independent retail or curated gift collections.
The mouth is smaller than the body
A 63 mm closure sits above a body measuring close to 80 mm across its widest points. The resulting shoulder frames the product, while the effective inner opening still needs checking against creamed honey, fruit pieces and the intended spoon or filling nozzle.
Twist-off is not continuous thread
The 63 mm lug finish closes with a short twist rather than multiple screw turns. Caps must match the exact twist-off finish and process requirement; a visually similar 63-400 continuous-thread closure is a different component and should not be substituted.
Case orientation protects the facets
The corners and individual labels can contact partitions if cells are too tight. A suitable divider holds the widest points clear, limits rotation and keeps hero panels aligned when the jar is supplied in shelf-ready trays or gift sets.
